Who we are

Compassionate Action is a strictly volunteer organization. Absolutely no one is paid for their work. We are a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) group that is committed to saving the lives of our community’s unwanted, abused and abandoned cats and kittens. Compassionate Action operates out of PETCO in Selden and Lake Grove, Long Island, NY. Our wonderful foster homes provide much-needed love, medical attention, and socialization. After testing, vaccination, and other necessary medical care is given, our cats and kittens are kept in a safe environment until their perfect “forever home” is found. All prospective homes are carefully screened to meet our high standards which, in turn, ensures the best possible happy ending for all.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP A CAT OR KITTEN IN NEED?

Compassionate Action, Inc., is seeking volunteers on an ongoing basis. There is so much to do and an overwhelming need for volunteers and funds to get things done. Please contact us at (516) 480-9279 if you would like to volunteer to feed local outdoor colonies or foster our rescued cats in your home. Compassionate Action also needs help with feeding (once a week) our adoptable cats on display at PETCO in Selden and Lake Grove. In addition, we need help with fundraising, public relations, special events, etc.

Volunteers have the opportunity to help with holding adoption events inside the PETCO store in Selden and Lake Grove. This helps to build the Compassionate Action name, but more important, gives our kitties the much-needed exposure that might connect them to their perfect forever home!

Compassionate Action is also looking for land and/or buildings on Long Island that can be used as a sanctuary for our feral cat colonies. Even a large barn would be useful for this type of sanctuary.

Donations of dry/wet cat food, cat beds, cages, safe cat toys, and store gift certificates are always welcome. Cash donations are especially needed, to cover our costs for food and other supplies, medical testing and vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and treating any other possible conditions. (All our cats up for adoption have had their medical needs taken care of and are in perfect health.)
